● Gran Via - Madrid's major street lined with boutiques, cinemas, cafes etc.
● Prado Museum
● Plaza de Toros - the major bullfighting arena designed in a Moorish style.
Sevilla is located downstream from Córdoba along the Guadalquivir River, and served as the primary port of the Spanish empire during the New World conquests in the 16th century
Sevilla is a vibrant, major city of modern Spain, with many industries and a rich cultural life.
Cordoba, located alongside the Guadalquivir River, is an ancient city that has existed at least since Roman times. After the Muslim conquest of Iberia in 711, the Umayyad amirs made Cordoba the capital of al-Andalus. By the 10th century, Cordoba had become one of the greatest cities in the world, thanks to the efforts of the powerful and wise caliph Abd al-Rahman III.
We will spend several days in this important city. We will walk along the streets of the modern city, familiarizing ourselves with the layout and observing various Islamic monuments. We will spend the evening in the old city of Granada, known as the albaicin, where today’s Muslim community makes its home. There are many Muslim restaurants and tea shops in this neighborhood. We will spend several hours visiting the Alhambra palace complex, as well as the Generalife gardens. This is a breathtaking and awe-inspiring destination, another tour highlight. We will also have an opportunity to experience our second Jummah at the lovely mosque of Granada that was established in 2003. Free time will be allocated for you to explore on your own, shop for souvenirs or other goods, and relax.
Toledo is located 42 miles southwest of Madrid. It is situated on a large hill and is surrounded on three sides by the Tagus river, creating a natural fortress. As a result of its isolated position, Toledo retains a quaint medieval quality, with narrow cobblestone streets and various handicraft shops.
GIBRALTAR / COSTA DEL SOL
The Southern Spanish coast between the port cities of Algeciras and Malaga is known as Costa Del Sol (“the Sun coast”), and is a popular holiday destination. Numerous beach towns dot the coast. Algeciras lies close to the famous mountain or rock of Gibraltar (Jabal Tariq), named after the Berber general Tariq ibn Ziyad.
